Unless you take care to entangle them inside or under heavier items before you start the dishwasher, they will fly around inside. As a result, these plastic spoons from OXO never got used enough for the labels to wear off, so I haven't had that problem. My advice: DON'T EVER buy plastic measuring spoons, unless you WANT to clean them by hand after each and every use. I thought I would add an observation seemingly not made by others: these spoons are too lightweight for a dishwasher with any real power. After discovering this, I purchased heavyweight stainless steel measuring spoons, which I do not have to worry about when putting them into the dishwasher.
Yes, I should put them away and yes, I should've opted for metal but I didn't think about that at the time. Since I've bought these two or three have melted while I have left them near my cooking area. So, next time I'll opt for stainless steal.
They work, but not once the labels wash off and they do wash off pretty easily.
Don't waste your money. on each spoon are extremely poor quality - after their first (gentle) wash, they were smudged and starting to be scraped away. The good: These nest well, look nice and feel good in the hand. The bad: The labels (the ad says permanently bonded - HAH). There are no other measurement notations on the spoons, which will quickly render them useless.
I also prefer black because I used to own a white set of measuring spoons and even when they were clean they looked dirty. I like this set because in addition to the regular measurements (1T, 1/2T, 1t, 1/2t and 1/4t) it also has an 1/8 teaspoon. I've read some reviews that the labels come off but I've only owned my set for a month so I haven't seen that yet.
